About

Story coach. Reflection guide. Narrative strategist.

Hi, I’m Jennifer V. Miller—writer, story coach, and lifelong fan of “figuring things out” through reflection.

I work with professionals who are ready to explore the stories that shaped them—whether they’re pivoting careers, preparing for retirement, or simply wondering, “What’s next?” As a Certified Guided Autobiography Instructor, I guide people through a structured process of writing short personal narratives that make sense of the past and illuminate the road ahead.

Sometimes these stories end up as memoirs. Sometimes, they become family keepsakes. And sometimes, they’re a way to rediscover a voice that’s been quietly evolving for years.

Before diving into life story coaching, I spent over two decades helping leaders and leadership experts communicate their ideas clearly and powerfully. I collaborated with thought leaders, learning teams, and corporate clients to write content that connects—blog posts, case studies, leadership articles, training tools, even podcast scripts.

That work lives on in The People Equation blog, where for 15+ years I’ve written about the many ways people navigate leadership, identity, and personal growth. (If you’re wondering about the name—yes, I still believe every person is a sum of their lived experiences. And every story is a part of that equation.)

Along the way, I’ve contributed to publications like Forbes, The Economist, SmartBrief on Leadership, and more. I’ve co-authored two business books and helped organizations like Honda, Herman Miller, and Farmers Insurance shape their leadership messaging.

Now, I bring that same storytelling clarity and editorial care to people who are ready to write not just what they’ve done—but who they’ve become.

A few things that make me, well, me:

  • The writing bug struck early: my first written piece was published at age 13—an op-ed article in my town’s local newspaper.
  • I’m a research scout and self-described learning junkie (seriously: my nightstand is a hazard zone of half-read books).
  • Food is an obsession–I read cookbooks like some people read novels!
  • I have a degree in psychology and a deep curiosity about what motivates people.
  • Animal rescue volunteer and devotee of sweet wildlife rescue videos (my current crush is wombats; I mean, baby wombats aka “joeys” are the cutest.)
  • I love discovering the “red thread” that connects seemingly unrelated life events.
  • Olives (mmm!). And chocolate. But not together.
  • I believe writing things down changes how we see ourselves—and how we show up for others.

So whether you’re leading others, leaving a legacy, or leaning into a new chapter, I’m here to help you tell the stories that matter.

Want to talk about what’s next for your story? Let’s connect.

What’s with the llamas?

You might’ve noticed the llamas on People Equation’s homepage header.

They’re not just there to be cute (though they are). Llamas are known for being reliable, sure-footed, and quietly capable companions on long, sometimes rocky journeys. They’re pack animals—but they don’t carry just weight. They carry trust.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a storytelling llama: steady, curious, and there to help guide you as you explore the terrain of your life experiences.
