Will It Be a Good Day for You Today?

by Jennifer V. Miller

how to decide it's a good day

I walked into the produce section of my favorite grocery store. Two store associates were stocking lettuce. I overheard one of them say, “Well, you know, I’ve decided that it’s gonna be a good day today.” I looked up and he caught my eye. As he walked toward me, I saw that his name tag said Marvin. Produce Clerk.

“I’m right, you know”, he said with a broad smile. “Every day when I wake up in the morning, I say to myself, ‘Marvin – is it gonna be a good day today?’ A long time ago, I figured it was up to me to decide the answer to that question. Ain’t nobody else can do it but me.”

He ambled away and resuming stocking packaged romaine lettuce.

Food for Thought – when your day started today, what did you decide about its outcome?
