These are lyrics from the song “Lead with Your Heart” by the Canadian group The Tenors.
In a workplace context, some folks aren’t comfortable having the words “lead” and “love” in the same sentence. I’m getting more comfortable with it. Especially if we’re talking about “leading” one’s self and listening to the inner voice that tells us what’s true, if only we are still enough to listen.
And even if we expand the idea to encompass leadership in a more traditional sense – those tasked with leading others at work – I think these lyrics can still provide excellent food for thought.
