Developing Your Political Savvy – Positively

by Jennifer V. Miller

Keep It Positive

There’s a newly formed community of practice from ASTD called the Workforce Development Community. The community’s goal is is to help managers and trainers understand how to better develop and engage employees, and to show them why doing so creates a more productive workplace and improves employee retention. Ron Lippock, Senior Director for ASTD’s Communities of Practice contacted me to see if I would write a piece on office politics. I said “sure” and the result is a piece called Can Office Politics Be a Good Thing? For years, I’ve been advocating for positive office politics – and this article outlines the ways in which you can become politically savvy without being manipulative.

Please go check it out and send this great new community some love.
