Tweep Round Up- Human Resources

by Jennifer V. Miller

Note: I’ve been on Twitter long enough now that I’m finally attracting people in my areas of professional interest— Human Resources, Training, Leadership Development, Performance Consulting and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The Tweep Round Up is a series of blog posts that will highlight individuals in each of these areas. If you’re new to Twitter, it can be difficult to easily find people in your area of professional expertise. Yes there are many third-party Twitter applications that help, but isn’t just easier to have a one-stop list?  So I offer to you . . . my “round up” of Tweeps that I’ve found to be well-versed in their area of expertise and who also offer high-quality tweets.

First up—Human Resources

Twitter has a large Human Resources community.  There are recruiters galore, HR generalists, strategic HR consultants, HR directors, HR association directors— you name it! I began my career as an HR generalist, so it’s great to stay in touch with this important part of the people-equation.

I’m highlighting people that have managed to stand apart from the HR crowd on Twitter.  For the most part, I’ve personally spoken with most people on this list and have taken the further step of collaborating on blog posts with some of them. These are all new connections for me; all great people I wouldn’t have met had it not been for Twitter.

Ben Eubanks @beneubanks– Funny, fresh, perspective on HR

China Gorman @ChinaGorman – Chief Global Member Officer, SHRM

Dee Honner @thehrmaven– Blogger, HR Director for a college, one of the most go-give people I know.

Jessica Lee @jessica_lee– Well-known in the HR Twitter community; editor and contributor to Fistful of Talent blog.

Jessica Miller Merrell @blogging4jobs– SPHR, MBA, HR manager, host of weekly job search webTV show.

Lisa Rosendahl @lisarosendahl– HR manager, blogger, excellent at providing support via her tweets.

Mark Stelzner @stelzner– Strategic HR consultant; knows his stuff; one of only a handful of consultants personally invited to give input on The Disney Institute program.

Mike Krupa @pdxmikek– Witty IT guy that supports his company’s HR department; very willing to share his technical knowledge.

Mike VanDervort @MikeVandervort – Blogger, Strategic HR consultant; also invited to give input on The Disney Institute program. Fellow word-lover.  Gotta love someone who writes a blog based on the word “confluence.”

Sharlyn Lauby @sharlyn_lauby– Savvy HR consultant that hosts the very popular HRBartender blog.

Steve Boese @SteveBoese– HR Technology Instructor, Co-Host of HR Happy Hour Show and HR_Tech Chat, and all-around good guy. He takes a lot of ribbing from his Tweeps and does so with good-natured humor.

Trish McFarlane @TrishMcFarlane– HR Director and writer of the clever “HR Ringleader” blog.

The list represents but a sampling of talented HR professionals on Twitter.  Who have I overlooked? Please add your favorite HR Tweeps in my Comments section.
